Hey Reader,I think there is nothing wrong with sharing your systems, frameworks, or beliefs with others to HELP people (I literallyyy do this for a living). But I've also learned that I have to be okay with people taking away what's useful for them AND be okay with them leaving what isn't. This is also something I've had to figure out for myself. I'm getting ready to launch a course and so I've been hiring experts, getting a second set of eyes on my stuff, running my writing through AI to to see what I'm "missing" (ughhhhhh!) and that has led me to sometimes doubting my way of doing things. Important service reminder: Never trust anyone who tells you their way is the only way (because it's SO NOT true). Even knowing what I know (and being the type of person who leaps without seeing ground first), it can be hard to drown out the loud voices telling you to do things "their" way. It's so good to have help, don't get me wrong. When you are so close to your business, you DEFINITELY need it...even if it is just to tell you that you're a f*cking rockstar, you know?! I feel like lately my brain has been so focused on the methodical "selling" and "marketing" part of my job rather than my usual instinctual way of creating. (Maybe it's the 10000000 sales pages and email sequences I've been writing for my new course. 🤪) And so sometimes even I need to remind myself that the people who end up wanting to work with me choose me because of who I am, not because I have followed through on someone's funnel framework. I know that my people will reach out when they are ready to work with me. I trust my brand to do it's job so that I can focus on the creating. And yeah, in my emails, I'll remind you of stuff that I do and get paid for, but mostly I'll write stuff that makes you feel less alone and inspired in your entrepreneurship journey No sneaky tactics required. Even though my job requires me to write an occasional sales page, I've made it so that I can write about what feels alive for me. As an entrepreneur. As a writer. As a woman. As a neurodivergent. As a mother. The honest. The messy. Because honestly...that's what personal branding really is. It's not doing what everyone else thinks you should do. It's sharing the parts of yourself you WANT to share. It's about owning your identity, and creating a space for it to shine, but not letting your work be the only part of it. That's it. You don't have to follow someone else's formula, rules, or advice in business or in life (that would be borrrrrrring). All you can do is listen to what's inside of you. Be honest, grow, and change. Take up some space. Say some things. Be liked. Be disliked. But most importantly, be YOU! xo Emily 💋 P.S. Join my Brand Strategy course waitlist here! |

Hey Reader, I paid over $8,300 in business expenses over the last two months while building my new course, and I didn't even bat an eyelash. Okay... maybe a tiny flutter. But mostly, it was genuine excitement for what's coming. Ten years ago, spending that kind of money on myself would have made me physically sick. Back then, I wore layers upon layers of social conditioning. I operated like a textbook "good girl" making sure to keep myself nice, small, and digestible. I kept my prices modest,...
Hey Reader, *The survey winner will be announced in this email, so read on!* I've been spending too much time on Threads lately and the whole vibe of the online business space has been seriously bumming me out. Coaches scamming people. Events not delivering. Everyone pushing their services as the "one" thing that will make your business successful (when there are actually SO MANY pieces to the puzzle). And I think that's why sometimes branding gets a bad reputation. Branding in the hands of...
