YOU will figure it out!

Hey Bootstrapper,

Each month, I deliver a fresh, feminist-inspired, creative marketing email to your inbox...let's dive in!

I wanted to let you know that I'm going to be going back to monthly emails while I make a small pivot back to...well...myself.

Let me explain...

As an entrepreneur, it's so EASY to get sidetracked by what other people are doing and forget to check in with yourself and listen to your intuition...that inner knowing that tells you where to go.

Sometimes it's not a bad thing to take advice from others...you get to try some stuff and learn about how you want to run your business.

"You need to charge more."

"You should offer something of high value for free."

"You should push past your limitations; that's where growth happens."

"You should focus on networking with all the people."

"Repurpose your content in all the ways!"

You may have heard some similar advice...and it's not bad advice at all. In fact, sometimes these things are what YOU need to hear.

And sometimes, it steers you further away from the business you ACTUALLY want to create.

Yes, pushing yourself outside your comfort zone is a helpful thing, but you also cannot build a sustainable business if your nervous system is on constant alert.

It becomes no different than the boss babe and hustle bro culture you wanted to avoid in the first place, right?!

So yeah...that's where I found myself as I looked to others for advice on building a sustainable business (because duhhhh...they were built around what worked for them)!

Yes, I had systems for not "overworking" myself, but some of those things didn't feel quite "right" to me. That's normal when you're growing, right?!

To a certain degree, yes. But when I found myself feeling chronically anxious, stuck, and unsure...I knew that I was heading in the wrong direction.

It was time to mute the voices around me and start listening to my intuition again.

I've unsubscribed to sooooo many emails, I'm trying to wean myself off of social media (especially so I can stop comparing myself to others in my industry), and I'm spending less time doing networking events and masterclasses.

There is ABSOLUTELY a time and a place to look to others for guidance.

But when doing so, we have to recognize that EVERYONE brings their personal experiences, biases, and preferences to the table, whether they intend to or not (myself included).

I think you'll have noticed that most of my emails have the theme of advising you to find out what works for you and build a brand that's infused with YOU.

Because there is no one exactly like you!

So try stuff, learn stuff, and don't be afraid to change stuff.

That's what I'm doing right now.

I realized that the weekly emails aren't really my style, because my energy ebbs and flows so much. I'm going back to monthly for now, and maybe I'll create some evergreen content when I'm feeling it. I'll figure it out...just like YOU WILL!

I am also making some small changes to my offers (like cancelling Office Hours). I had received advice to pursue fewer, higher-paying clients, but I've realized that I'm more passionate about supporting entrepreneurs in the messy middle. I mean, I called myself Bootstrapped Woman for a reason...

I'm not exactly sure what that will look like yet, but I'm already brainstorming some more accessible pricing models and resources. So stay tuned for that!

And in case you needed a permission slip...you've got one...so you can do business YOUR way and change your mind as many times as you damn well please!

Thank you so much for reading and giving me space in your inbox! I am so grateful for you.

Hey Bootstrapper, Tired of business advice that doesn't feel like...YOU? This newsletter is your permission slip to build your business on your own terms...let's dive in! So, I just got back from a whirlwind family vacation—the kind where you’re Googling “kid-friendly pubs” while passing snacks to the back seat, while hubby is driving on the wrong left side of the road and wondering why you thought this would be the thing to “recharge” you. 😂 It wasn’t a chill, beachy kind of rest. It was a...

Hey Bootstrapper, Tired of business advice that doesn't feel like...YOU? This newsletter is your permission slip to build your business on your own terms...let's dive in! Last month, we talked about unlearning urgency and tuning out advice that was never meant for you (if you missed that email, check it out here!).
